Chapter 31
ANOMALOUS ORIGIN OF THE RIGHT SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY WITH COARTATION OF THE AORTA This situation can be seen in a large number of coarctation of the aorta where the right subdavian artery arises beyond the point of coarctation, in the hypotensive area of the aorta. The right subdavian artery usually passes behind the esophagus and trachea, and marked hypotension in the right arm, as compared with the hypertensive left one, is noted.
