Chapter 35
ASSOCIATION OF HEART MALFORMATIONS WITH ASPLENIA Asplenia occurs many times with complex congenital heart disease. Probably the most prevalent malformation in a single ventricle or large V.S.D. with pulmonary stenosis which may produce a clinical and hemodynamic picture similar to tetralogy of fallot. Left superior vena cava and connection of left superior vena cava to the left atrium can also be seen with asplenia. In this last condition, the coronary sinus is usually absent. Single atrium and less often, A.S.D., can be seen in other patients with congenital asplenia.
